Whether you’re looking for an outdoor adventure or a fun day of shopping and sightseeing, there’s something for everyone in this charming port city. So if you’re planning a visit to Wilmington, here are six must-see spots and activities that will give you an unforgettable experience.

Battleship North Carolina Museum

The Battleship North Carolina is one of the most popular attractions in Wilmington. This World War II battleship is now permanently docked in downtown Wilmington and open for tours. A visit to this museum allows visitors to go back in time and explore the ship’s various compartments as well as its unique history. The tour also includes interactive exhibits, where visitors can learn more about life onboard the ship during WWII.

Wilmington Riverwalk

Boasting picturesque views along the Cape Fear River, visitors can take a leisurely stroll along the Wilmington Riverwalk while taking in all that it has to offer. This 1.75-mile path takes visitors past historic buildings such as Thalian Hall Center for Performing Arts and City Hall as well as restaurants, galleries, and shops along its route. There are also numerous public art pieces dotting the walkway which provide insight into the local culture.

Wrightsville Beach

Wrightsville Beach is one of Wilmington’s top attractions due to its stunning white sand beaches and crystal clear blue waters — perfect for swimming or snorkeling! Here, visitors can also enjoy kayaking or paddle boarding on calm waters or take a ferry ride out to Masonboro Island — home to some of North Carolina’s most beautiful wildlife habitats.

Carolina Beach Boardwalk

For a classic beachside experience, head over to Carolina Beach Boardwalk where guests can find amusement park rides such as bumper cars and roller coasters alongside food stands serving up fried seafood dishes like fish tacos or crab cake sandwiches with hush puppies on the side. During summer months this boardwalk comes alive with live music performances from local bands every Friday night until 11pm — making it perfect for a fun night out with friends or family!

Take a Tour of Bellamy Mansion

Built by enslaved people in 1861, this antebellum mansion was once home to John Dillard Bellamy and his family. Today, visitors can take guided tours of the mansion’s grounds and gardens as well as explore its inner workings with audio tours available in several different languages.

Visit Airlie Gardens

This 67-acre garden features more than 1 million blooms throughout its grounds so it’s no wonder why it’s one of Wilmington’s most popular attractions! Guests can explore winding pathways full of lush greenery while taking in views of Bradley Creek or try their hand at fishing on one of Airlie Garden’s two lakes — Lake Stanley and Lake Salternecee. Guests will also find plenty of birds chirping away as they wander through these tranquil gardens!
